Hi, I’m Joan — welcome to the jungle

My home has basically become a greenhouse—and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Every windowsill has a propagation jar, and every shelf is filled with leafy plants.

For years, friends and family have been sending me photos of their struggling plants asking, “What’s wrong with this one?” Somewhere between helping others rescue their plants and growing my own collection, I realized I wanted to share what I’ve learned with other plant lovers.

One of my favorite things to do is rescue struggling plants. Many of my favorites started as clearance finds or neglected plants that someone else had given up on. Bringing them back to life is incredibly fulfilling, and caring for plants has become one of my favorite ways to slow down, find peace, and enjoy the simple process of watching something grow.

Life gets busy, and I’m no exception. Joan’s Jungle was created to help busy plant lovers keep beautiful plants healthy with practical resources inspired by the systems and habits I use to care for my own collection.

I now call Florida—the Sunshine State—home, where tropical plants thrive year-round. Before that, I lived in Minnesota, so I understand the challenges of growing plants in very different climates. I truly believe that with a little knowledge and the right care, anyone can grow a thriving plant collection.
